The Mogul Community is made up of Mogul Highlands, Mogul Meadows, and Sunset Bluffs. Mogul
became a Firewise USA Community in 2024. See our 2023 Community Wildfire Risk Assessment.
Fire Risk - High
Mogul is a rated as a "High" fire risk area, with both surrounding environment and structures ratings of "High Hazard." The main fire risk for our community would be a fire coming from the west - from I-80, Verdi, or Somersett (Del Webb).
Fuels Reduction Priorities
Our community fuels priorities are individual home fuels reduction (see Home Ignition Zones) and fuels
reduction in the surrounding open spaces and the Highland Ditch. Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District may be able to do fuels work in our surrounding open spaces and the ditch in 2026. We'll keep you posted about that possibility.
In the Event of Evacuation - Evacuate as early as possible
In the event of a fire, and as soon as evacuation warnings are issued, leave as early as possible. Our
community only has two egress routes (I-80 and 4th Street) which will get backed up the longer you
wait.
